Our History

Bill Mauldin, the primary voice of William Mauldin Productions, Inc., started in broadcasting at the early age of 14 at an ABC affiliate, WCOG, in Greensboro, North Carolina, as a teen DJ with an afternoon radio program. He also worked on weekends as a board engineer with WGBG, the Mutual Broadcasting affiliate.

He was so successful, he quickly became a staff announcer and host of a live stage show which ran for many years at the historic Carolina Theater in downtown Greensboro. Later, after being selected as the commercial announcer by the ABC Network, he was the announcing voice for Joe Emerson’s Hymn Time, a daily ABC Radio Network program, heard nationwide.

In time, Bill’s experience included staff announcing jobs at other several other stations. He attended Guilford College, and later graduated from a broadcasting scholarship program offered by the Radio Institute at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

William Mauldin Productions, Inc., the corporation, was founded in 1982 in Boca Raton, Florida. During this period, Bill produced and was the voice for many commercials and training materials for such national clients as National Airlines, Pan American World Airways, Lincoln Mercury, Dolly Madison Bakeries, Fidelifax Security, and Martha White Flour.

By the mid-1980's, William Mauldin Productions had a voice-over staff of six announcers, all hand-picked by Bill during his travels around the country. The staff produced many station IDs and program promotions for radio stations nationwide.

William Mauldin Productions, Inc. operated in Florida until 1991. Studios were then moved to a new 3000 sq foot studio facility in southwest Virginia, where the company branched into documentary television. In 2002, William Mauldin Productions, Inc. closed the television division, and the Creative Audio Concepts Division, devoted to professional audio and voice-overs was born, with locations in Virginia and North Carolina.

Today, William Mauldin Productions, Inc. is a state-of-the-art sound production company, featuring the experienced voice of Bill Mauldin for broadcasting, radio & TV station identification and station imaging, program introductions, business and political commercials, telephone, documentaries, educational, podcasting, movie trailers, and other specialty audio specialties are the featured products, and all can be provided with licensed music and sound effects, if desired.
